Protect your flowers
from extreme heat or cold (Don't leave them waiting in your car). While
preparing for the next steps, leave your flowers inside the sleeve/wrapper.
Find a clean vase
that is large enough for your roses to fit comfortably. Generously fill it with
cold water and follow the directions on the floral preservative provided .
Fill a large bowl or
sink with several inches of cool water. Submerge the stems under water and use
a sharp knife to cut 1-2 inches off the bottom at a slight angle. This will
allow your flowers to be hydrate.
Let your flowers
drink water for an hour before removing the wrappers. Remove leaves that
are below the water level (not above), and remove any outside petals that
are discolored .
Every three days,
trim your stems under clean water and keep the vase filled with fresh, cool
water and a new packet of floral preservative.
Remember: place your vase in a well ventilated place that is not under direct
sunlight, near ceiling fans, heaters, televisions, etc, which can cause your
flowers to become dehydrated. Avoid placing flowers near other fruits and
vegetables.
